I don't know if I LOVE Snape, but I definitely grow to like him, at least by the last book. I love when you learn his story between what happened between him and Lily from childhood on up. The whole time you're hopeful in that relationship and that something changes in Snape even though you know already what happens. At the same time, it's good things happened as they did. Snape's ability to hate Harry Potter makes him inconspicuous to Voldemort. At the same time, his connection to the Dark Arts doesn't give him away either. However, if it wasn't he who loved Lily and swore to protect Harry, Harry could've died already. A complex and intriguing character. Sad when he died, when I finally grew to like the guy...
